The speaker, in a plain, matter-of-fact way, pointed out the fulfilled and promised pledges of the Republican party during the eight years of republican administration, and if some Democratic toes were trampled upon we heard no grunts of disapproval. Some preachers will contend that it is not right to draw politics into the pulpit, but before they get through making their "little speech," they make it a point to tell the congregation what a good man so and so is and even go so far as to state who they propose to vote for. What seems funny to an outsider is that some ministers will say things from the pulpit which they them elves condemn as wrong. Uncle Jonnie Morton brought his wife to. town election day and one of the local politicians passed jokes about it, saying: "Uncle Jonnie brought her along to help him vote right." Well, he voted right, all right, and the local aspirant didn't get his vote, either.
