Mr. Behan is well known to nearly all our people, being one of the pioneer settlers of this vicinity.

About fifteen years ago he moved to Wanette, where he has since resided and where his wife 'since passed away. For several years after leaving here he frequently came back to look after his property interests and visit among hour and a half waiting and shivering and becoming stiff their 'opponents were keeping warm by exercise in other events (all their exercises for that after noon came before the tennis) and were well prepared for the game when it opened. They won five games while our boys won one. From this point on our boys won but it was too late. They took three straight games and lost one thus losing the set.

The next set St. Marys won by a score of six to one. The third set went to Havensville by six to The contest pulled off last Friday and Saturday was pleasant and ailtogether enjoyable in spite of the cold weather. Our little party of eight were most kindly entertained in private homes and when we tried to pay for the entertainment (for we will be open every night, rain or shine. In the eighth in-' ning the bleachers seemed alive with rooters, whose efforts were not wholly in vain, for the score of the white and blue was advanced six points, but in the ninth were retired one behind the This defeat, however, was due to Green's absence from the box on account of the hard game he handled the previous day against K. The hearty welcome and whole-hearted courtesy extended us by the people of Havensville will not soon be forgotten.

The contest a year from now will probably be held in St. Marys. However the exact date and place of next meeting will not be fixed until June, at which time there will be a meeting in Westmoreland, of the Superintendents in the county and one student graduate from his many friends, and was preparing to again return to St. Marys this spring to make his permanent home. Pat Behan was a friend to everybody and one of the best hearted men alive.

The features of the game were the hard and effective hitting of the locals and the exceptionally fine pitching of Hayden, one of Quigley's youngest slab artists. The St. Louis boys started in the second inning and put two men over the plate. In this inning, the locals seemed to be satisfied with one tally, but came strong in the third when Sheehan singled, Dockery beat out a bunt, Speice laid one down but, Sheehan was caught at third and Swift, single scored both and the big catcher went to third on a fielder's choice.
