8TATI7. T'RIVTKR C. O. Baiter. Another week has faded into the dim azure of tha past without Col.

Matson making a ilir in the mattorof general pension legislation. The 27th week since tbe opening of the session has passed as fruitlessly as its 26 predecasors. During it bills relating to the widest variety of matter were taken from the calendar, considered, advanced toward passage, or actually passed. Everything and everybody seemed to have attention except the veteran, and the debt due hnn from tha Government. Natiowal Tribune.

Location. In attempting to portary the beauties and advai.tages of the location of the town of Densmoro our pen is power-loss to do the subject justico. It is impossible to fully appreciate the grandeur of this highly favored spot without beholding it with the natural eye, and a true conception cannot be formed of the grand work of Nature's plastic hand in fashioning this favored spot for man's convenience and enjoyment. The town is situated npon a plateau on the north side of the Solomon lliver, about fifty feet above high water iwark, and slopes gently toward the south. Immediately north of town the elevation reaches a heigth of two hundred feet from which point the country assumes a level plain as far as the eye can rpach, The rives makes a semi-cirole, leaving the bluff three-quarters of a mile northwest of town, and winding its course along its bed of solid rock strikes tho hills again one-half mile east of the town-site.

Witk-in the circle we land about one thousand acres of beautiful tableland, with as rich soil as man ever trod. At a depth of from thirty to hfty fopt pure, clear wates can be obtained in inexhaustible quantities. The writer has been in pearly every county in the State of Kansas, and he can say with all candor that iu no section of the west can better water be found than that which supplies Densmore. Five tributary streams empty tkei- wateri into the Solomon within 'te of Goiaxity itor Sale Or IMasge on easy terms. 0 DENSMORE, KAI2SAS.

Irish World. EUBEKA HOTFL. THOMAS BIUW.E, Proprietor. A charter has boon secured by the I Terms: Two Dallars Per Day 1 I An effort is being made to amend tho census bill so that enumerators shall ascertain how many men are Union gurvivors of the war, and how many women are widows of deceased Union soldiers.

The object of this is to obtain information which can be used intelligently in framing pension legislation in the future. B. IT, North, of Athens township, Jewell comity, is quite an extensive wheat grower. He has about five hundred acres of winter wheat in and it gives excellent promise of being; an enormous yield. He expects to begin harvesting this mammoth crop next week.

Champion. Yes we know this Mr to be an old timo rusler from lllnois. Hope he will harvest a fine crop of wheat this season. Jl. THE DIAMOND ROLLER MILLSt 1 1 it t) Keeps constantly on hand the Best Brands of flour and does a general costom Avork.

I r. Win Nya, Proprietor You are all aware that it is a nearly certain fact that the south branch of the Central Branch R. will during the present season be extendod westward to a Denver connection. Being aware of this tact many kaye asked, what benefit would we derive if tha B. were extended.

Readers to answer this question, should stop and think for a few moments and they will be able to answer it for them solves, in the first place if it were a through line, hundreds ot exeursionists and land seekers would pass through our beautiful country and villages, each year, that would otherwise pass through and buy land along the line of some othar R. R. when could they have passed through via. the C. B.

R. they would have been able to find land that suited them much better, thereby settling up our country, as well as advancing the price of our property. Another is that hundreds of businessmen in the eastaie looking for homes in the west and if tbey were permitted to pass througn to the mountains yia. the O. B.

R. they will select their respective towns which will not only help build the towns, but furnish more business. Denver i one ot the best markets, in tho world and if we were on a through line of where our produce could be sent straight through and save the cost of sending it nearly 400 miles out of the way, merchants would be able to pay more for farm products and nearly three times as much would be called for to supply tho demand. In the 4th place Northwest Kansas would be noted for itsdairyingin a short time thus furnish ing good and paying improvmont for i Whatever may be said of Mr. Clevel-landa shortcomings as president "it must be admitted that as the managor of a political party he has been eminently successful remsmborinsr that for A quarter of a century the party has been crying for bread and during the last fouryearii.like Oliver Twist, crying for more, the part that all is now peace and quiet is sufficient to convince any orc excopting offencive partisans, that as an organizer and leader he ha few equals and no Lenora, Oberlin aud Northwestern railroad Co.

A survey will be immediately made and if the people along the line properly encourage- it the read will be built this summer and will bd operated by the Missouri Pacific giving Oberlin access to the thousand? of miles of that great road. Bonds will be asked of the townships through which the road projected and if the people want the road constructed thoy will vote the bonds. As this company is composed of the business men interested personally in ike grewth of thiscountry, men who have taken hold of this matter for the sole pupose of securing this other road into this country, they should be aided by the intelligent people who live along the projected line.
