1 different races of persons bought bonds of the second Liberty Loan issue. Look for the add for the Monkey Grip Patching Metal. -Pearl Eagleburger (ad OBITUARY John Milton Hardman was born Nov. 15, 1845 in Davis county, Iowa and departed this life Nov. 18, 1917 at the age of 72 years and 3 days.

Tho he had suffered from stomach trouble for a number of years he had been confined to his bed only a few days and death was wholly unexpected. Sunday night after a third attack of gall stones he fell into a sleep from which he never awoke and after about two hours passed away without a struggle. He was the youngest son of Thomas Jefferson Hardman and Mary Jaynes Hardman. When a child they moved to Scotland county, Missouri, where he grew to manhood. His parents were descendants of the Hardman's of Pennsylvania.

In the Civil War he enlisted with the 45th Regiment Iowa Volunteer Infantry and was honorably discharged Dec. 15, 1864. He was united in marriage to Martha I. Roseborough April 13, 1865 at Memphis, Mo. To this union ten children were born, one daughter Martha and one son, Samuel having preceded him to the great beyond Mr.

Hardman and his family moved to Fremont county, Iowa, in 1874 where they resided two years. In 1877 they moved to Pottawottomie county, Iowa and lived there until 1879. At this time they came to Graham county, Kansas, where he took a home stead and it was here that he made his home until October 1916 when he and Mrs. Hardman mov ed to Lenora. He was one of the earliest settlers of Graham county and suffered the hardships of pioneer days.

Mr. Hardman united with the Baptist Church in 1867 and has always been a firm believer with the greatest faith in his Creator. He joined the Masonic order at Big Grove, Iowa in 1877 and was also a member of the A. O. U.

W. Lodge at Lenora. He possessed a genial disposition and was a kind and loving father. His memory will be cherished and he will be greatly missed by those who love him best. The large attendance at the funeral services testify to the esteem in which deceased was held.

Funeral services were held Nov 21st at 2:30 p. at the Congregational Church at Lenora, conducted by Rev. W. E. Dull.

The Lenora Masonic Lodge escorted the body to the South cemetery where it was laid to rest with the rites of the order. Besides his wife, he leaves to mourn his loss: Mrs. S. Larrick, Thos. Hardman, John E.

Hardman, Wm. Hardman, and Irva Hardman, of Lenora, Kansas. Mrs. D. F.

Heitmeyer, of Mitchell, Indiana. Lon Hardman, of Pagosa Springs, Colorado. Ira Hardman, of Webster, Iowa. Three sisters and two brothers who survive are: Mrs. Oliver Valentine, Alva, Oklahoma; Mrs.

Wm. Daniels, of Oklahoma; Mrs. J. Adams, of Milton, Iowa; Wm. and Lillard Hardman, of Memphis, and a number of grand children.

B. WILCOX IN The Parent- Teacher Meeting Friday night, a largely attended, and enthusiastic parent teach er meeting was held at the high school. Rev. W. E.

Dull was elected president; Mr. R. A. Richmond, and Miss Martha Cruson, secretary. The program was fine and if you missed it, you missed a rare treat.

Don't think because you pay your, taxes you have done part by the school. Go see what the youngsters are doing. There are people here who only see the school house from the out side. Go in -it wont fall on you -and when the teachers and pupils are all at work you will exI, perience a real surprise and feel a greater interest in the school than ever before. The school board and teachers would appreciate your visits and cooperation.
