Last night about. 12 m. a young man by the name of wm. Elliott, from Illinoisf who has been stopping in town a short time, followed Fanny LaShell and her sister, Nellie, as they were on their way home to S. Larriek's where Fanny fans been workiug.

He overtook them a litt'e way of the house and shot Fanny. The ball, entering the top of the shoulder and ranged downward striking a vital part. Sue died instantly. Nellie tried tc prote3t her sister with her own body but was unsuccessful. Th' fiend then turned the revolver on hire and fired three shots, one which a prove fatal.

It entered fhe side of the abdomen just bolow the ribs and ranged downward. It seems this Elliott wished Fanny to marry him and she would not nor could she as he is ber uncle. He has threatened to kill her several times, but never attempted to carry his threat into execution. Fanny was highly esteemed by all those with whom she came in contact for hor pleasant and cheerful ways and her untinieiy death is mourned by all her many acqnaintanctis. She was interred in I he Lnucra ceMery this afternoon.

Miss Fisher and several of her friends were at Kirwin on Sunday, An educational rally is announced for Densmore on Saturday evening. This neck of the woods is a unit for W. A. Reedor, for Congress. Vote-right.

VI re. Reeder and family are again at home. They have been visiting at Glen Elder. Our merchants have placed iu an unusually large fall and winter stock of goods. Prin.

B. Pogue, candidate for representative, was in town one day this week. Mr. Pogue is a fine man and will be elected. Just received a car load of implements at Muzzy's which he will close out for cash cheap.
