Beven men have been sentenced to death Ovth readers will remember tha atory tho Leader contained soma time ago that Werner Winters brought from Ohio in regard to a man being struck dead and and turning to utona for cursing God, from which such mi intense heat arose that no cno could go near it. A reporter from the St Louis Globe Democrat visited that section a few days ago and gives tho following account of the strange oc-enrauca which wo give for what it is woith: At Lima, Ohio, July 26 while nt work in the field, a farmer by the name of Sylvester Redyau, owner of 6overal hundred acres of line farmimg land in Mereor county, began curbing in a most shocking manner about tho drouth injuring his crops, and wound up with au oath that he would cut God's heart out if he would come down. No sooner were the words utterod than a vivid streak of firs resembling lightning came down from the cloudless sky and struck Rcd-yan. His companions who were with him iu the harvest field were rendered insensible for soveral minutes. When they recovered they were rendered insensible for several minutes.

When they recovered they were nearly frightened to death at the sight which presented itself. Redyan, the man who just a few seconds before uttered the terrible curse, had been transformed into stone and lay on the ground near where ho had stood when he made tha shocking offer to the Supremo being. His cloth3 had been burned from him, and his lips were parted in the stone figure just as Redyan had finished tho oatb. An awful heat arose from the piece of stone and was so intense that no person could go near it. While the story is so strange that it may not be bolieved by many, its truth is vouchod for by my informant and several other as equally reliable men of this vicinity with whom your correspondent has talked regarding the strange affair.

Each of them had been to the plaoo aud seen the transfigured body, and do not hesitate to sBy that every word of the account which I have given is correct. One man offered to hire a rig and drive the GIolw Democrat, man to the spot, and if things were not as he represented them to bo he would pay the expenses. Redyan was a man about 40 years of age, and had a family of a wife and five children, who are nearly wild with grief. Redyan was addicted to swearing, and could scarcely speak a word without accompaning it with an oath. The country where the affair happened is not very thickly populated, which accounts for the remarkable transaction not being given to the public sooner.
