The ladies of Barnard will give a BARNARD TIMES. basket social on the evening of Satur County Sunday School Convention. The next convention of the Lincoln Published every Thursday Evening. Bargains! Topic, "The relation of the family to day, Oct. 19. The proceeds of the social will be devoted to the purchase of an organ for the Tabernacle. As the instrument is very much needed we ask all to attend the social and help swell the fund to the best of their ability. The place of holding the social will be given in our next issue.

Although the following is from the Dakota Farmer it will apply to the Kansas farmer with equal force: If you are going to let that machine stand out again all winter, can't you hide it behind the stable or somewhere so that it won't advertise you quite so much as it would if you left it out in the open field. We would suggest that you put it in the grove but we know that you have none. The man who lets his farming tools stand out all winter is not apt to be a tree planter. Deputy sheriff Ingham and Mr. Webster, independent candidate for surveyor, both of Lincoln, were in town to-day; the former posting election notices and the latter fixing up his political fences.

We have no doubt Mr. Webster is a good man, but he will find it impossible to fix up the fences in such shape as to keep the people of this county from coming out on election day and "boosting" the popular Tell W. The following from the Winona, Clipper, gives an account of a social, given in honor of a omer citi zen of this place but now a resident of Winona. His many friends here join with those at his present location in wishing him many happy returns of the day.

Last Saturday evening a large number of people from town and country assembled quietly at the home of Rev. and Mrs. Nash, it being the occasion of Rev. Nash's 38th birthday. He expected a few friends to spend the evening but was very much surprised to see such a large assembly.
