THE SCHOOL JOURNAL. 1 lTTT 111 1 11 0- Go to Langans and get your Candles, you cannot buy them any cheaper in New York. Special prices will be given on large quantities. We are the Church and Family Furnishers in Religous Articles of all kinds in the West. And if prices will do it, we intend to lead all other con-cerns in the West.

Come to us for anything you need, or send all orders to 7that it is a sacramental and a religious union; now if the individual is bound at the peril of his soul, to adore God, to offer prayer to Him, so much more is the family, as parents have as many souls to save as they have children. "All the Saints in heaven, infants excepted, become Saints through prayer; all the damned were lost, because they did not pray" says St. Alphonse, because the one great feature in the practice of religion is prayer, Our divine Savior emphatically teaches that "we should always pray and never faint." Family prayer keeps up a religious family spirit, and makes the home a Christian home; it strengthens the Christian home against the assaults of hell and the allurements of the world, family prayer will strengthen daily more and more the sacred bond between parents and chidlren, make the Christian home happy and the loveliest spot after the house of God; yea more, it intimately connects the Christian home with holy Church. It is from Christian homes the Church draws her religious sons and daughters, her priests and religious. We know of no Christian country in the world, where so few families say their family prayers in common, aud we might add, where so many disrupted and unhappy families are found as in our own country.

Keverence, love and obedience of children towards parents count for little, as soon as children can do for themselves. To engage in unholy love, to seek societies or clubs without religion which prove their spiritual and often their temporal ruin are matters of every day occurance. Children mingle with non-christian families and find no difference between them and their own, and in truth, there is no perceptible difference between them, as there are 4 no family 'prayers in either. Neither father nor mother feel happy at a home which is not Christian. When the father desires recreation and rest from the worry of business or his daily occupation he leaves home; the mother drags out a cheerless life which becomes a burden to her.

In our cities small and large boys run the streets till near midnight, which could not happen in a Christian home where night prayers are said at regular hours, where the father is honored, where the mother and children are loved as in no other place, where one lives with and for all the others, where they find all the innocent recreation they can wish for, before saying their family prayers for the night. WHAT TRAYEES TO SAY. In order to. assist the families in saying their night prayers, as the holy Father desires, we have published a set of short family prayers, which your children learn in the Diocesan Catechism, which we request all our families to use, adding in the evening LANGAN Nos. 116 and 117 West 5th i KANSAS.
