THE BUGLEil November, 1907 the Ellsworth girls the. tricks of basket ball. This time.the game was. played at Ellsworth. The final score might indicate that the game was one sided but spectators say it was one of the best games ever seen in this part of the country.

Ellsworth had been practicing constantly since their defeat at Russell and were sure of victory this time, but our speedy centers, our mighty, guards and our plucky forwards proved a veritable stone wall for their opponents. A loose goal post and a wabbly ring prevented our team piling up the. score in the first half, but with even this hindrance they shut out Ellsworth to the tune of 9 tp 0. The most sensational play made when Florence Laubmann, a Russell guard, threw the ball across the entire field where it was caught1 by Edith Lawson (Capt.) immediately threw another goal for Russell. Final score 20 to 8.

The lineup was the same as in" the game played at Russell. Here's to the team that has never known defeat!" Mr. Smith, the referee, knew the rules and did not hesitate to call fouls on either side. The Ellsworth team is one of the best R. H.

S. has ever played and Russell was glad to see the way in which they took their defeat, which fact shows there is nothing' the matter with Ellsworth. The gate receipts amounted to $26.45 which covered all expenses and left a tidy sum toward the amount pledged by the basket ball team for the piano fund. Russell will play a return game at Ellsworth in the near future. 1 The following was the lineup Ellsworth Guards, Olive Wohl, Izora Sommers centers, Alma Hummel, Bernice McLaurin; forwards, Blanche Thorpe Violet Cochrane.

Russell Guards, Florence Laubman, Florence Johnson centers, Franc Bankr er, Nettie Lasure; Mabel Marsh, Edith Lawson, (capt;) Subs, Neita Thorpe, Ellsworth, and-Frances Gower, Russell. On Nov. 9 our girls once more taught Art Exhibit November 20-23 of inaugurating a series of. Picture Studies in; our schools and to start the--work of school room decoration. i 4 Weextend a cordial invitation to the, public attend this, famous Art Ex-, hibit, and request the co-operation of every citizen in our efforts to secunv beautiful pictures for the walls of an school rooms.

-Each one. can assist us by making a contribution of whatever amount the donor majf desire to be ap-; plied to the picture fund, With every dollar thus subscribed, we purchase pictures at a discount of 25 per cent. 'The public may rest assured of our appreciation of its patronage and 4 any efforts, however small, that may be made toward the -increase of our, Committee on Subscriptions, The walls of many of our school rooms present to the eyes of the pupils, and hence to their minds, only bareness, whereas, with suitable decoration, they could be made to convey a sense of comfort or cheerfulness; always conducive to better work, arid to inspire the thought when the eyes wander from the lesson page as they will. The plan of giving our1 children a more 1 comprehensive idea of: the value of good pictures can be furthered in no better manner than by means of the Horace K. Turner Art Exhibit which is loaned, with no financial guarantee, for the purpose of raising funds for school room decoration.

This exhibit comprises two hundred beautiful reproductions of the world's leading subjects in paintings, portraits, architecture, sculpture and natural scenery, and we have availed ourselves of it for the purpose not simply good, but good for something..
