Kirkpatrick was nominated without opposition. Died, at his home in this city at 2 a. m. Wednesday, August 21st, Thomas Lahey, aged 47. Funeral services were held at the Catholic church this '( Friday) morning at 10 o'clock, after which the remains were escorted to the cemetery by his brethren of the A.

Mr. Lahey was a native of Pennsylvania and had served two enlistments in U. S. cavalry. He came to Ford county in 1881 and was, for a time extensively engaged in sheep husbandry.

In 1380 he became deputy clerk of the district court of Ford county, to which office he was su cessively elected in 1888, 1800 and 1802, always receiving a heavy vote. His popularity grew out of his admirable personal qualities. Being of a genial, accommodating disposition, every acquaintance became his iriend and learned to love him. He bad no enemies; had charity for all, malice toward none, and such was the charm of his sunny nature lishes the Harvey County Iews, at Newton, Kansas. February 32nd he will begin the publication of the Extra 4-Page Edition of the Commoner, containing 2-1 columns of solid reading matter, with no adds or locals.
