Comiittee. Dr. Plumer, who is now a resident of Hansford, Texas, arrived in the city last Sunday to visit a few days among old friends. This snaco is reserved for Fitzirernld It was tho sumo apostle who said "We wrestle not with llesh and blood, but against principalities and powers against splrllual wickedness in high places." He has met Hie forces of evil, and in the name and through the power of Jesus of Nazareth hath triumphed. "I HAVK FINISHED MY COUltBB," This implies deeipline.

Generally it moans discipline by allllctioii. Tho tlmo may come when we will praiso God for his chastisements as we ore now greatful to our parents because they correct us in our youth. But certainly he had his share of affliction or of discipline. He has seen his friends die and has followed them to the grave. He has seen property swept away by Hoods, destroyed by war and rendered valueless by ad-verso circumstances.

He bus been like the marble statue under the sculptors chisel; like the gold through tho refiners fire; but believed with the poet: "The flames shall not hurt thee, I ouly design thy dross to consume, thy gold to refine." Iu the midst of the most excruciating pain he would believe that "All things work together for good to them that love God." I HAVE REIT THE FAITH. Ho was brought up by christian parents of the Presbyterian family of churches. Since his marriage he has been thrown largely iiujo the association of Methodists with which church he united a litlfe more than a year ago. He has been largely on the frontier where his business relations would throw him into the roughest elements of society, where there were great provocations and great temptations and where, under like circumstances, thousands of men have denied the faith and gone down in the vortex of sin, but amidst all this he has kept the faith, and died trusting in the God of his father and mother; the God of the bible; tho God of the redeemed in Heaven. For such an one, there is laid up a crown of glory.

For such an one, we mortals weep because we miss. him. But were we on the other side of the river where they see face to face, and know as they are known we would join this day in the song of the angels, and wuld cry as his redeemed spirit ascends the skies. vLiftupyour heads oh ye gates, even lift them up ye eyerlasting doors and let a child of glory in." (3. Reynolds, aged CI years. Mr. Reynolds was born in Klmira, N. on July 14th, 'iS27, and movod to Michigan from thoro iu 1837.

In he came to Kansas, and finally looated at Emporia where ho establish cd a stage lino and was the first to carry passengers south and west over the trackless plains. In 1875 he canio to Dodge City, and ever sinpe his stage lines have threaded this part of tho state in evory direction; entering; Colorado they extended north and south from the Santa Fe. In fact wherever man has desired to travel on these broad prairies, tho stages of the worthy deceased friend has been at their disposal. His life, whilo having been cast among the roving populace of the west, meeting more of the bad than the good each day, has been, an exemplary one as well as an eventful one. Mr.

Reynolds, while claiming a host of friends, had but few, if any enemies; kind, honest, genial, accomodating, liberal, always ready to help tho needy, bypassed through life, abeam of sun-sliino, making glad the hearts of all with whom he associated. Of late years the iron horse has so encroached that staging has beconio less profitable, and now as it is about to easo, ho who for so many years has followed it closely, lays aside tho bonds that bind to earthly things and repairs to that home not made with hands, but eternal and iu tho heavens. Mr. lleyuolds' has been failing for several months and all knew that the end was near. He had tried change of climate; and all that the best medical skill could devise, together with the nursing of a loving wife and children, could not longer stay the blow.

He sinks to rest, at peace with his Lord. His work has been well done. We sympathize with his family, but know that they do not mourn as those who have no hope, but look forward to a bright and glorious reunion. Yes, brethren; the ties on earth are broken, for Mr. Reynold's was a charter member of Corona Lodge No.
