Last week we mentioned some ads being taken from this paper on the claim that parties had threatened to boycott certain merchants if they did not quit advertising in the Patriot. One merchant made statement that six different men to quit him.

Asked about the matter since, he flatly denied that anyone had made any such cruel -remarks. What a marvelous freak of memory! Fred Wiebeck's went on a fishing trip the first of the week and caught a fine lot of fish. Miss Gertrude Krueger went to Gotleib Scheib's the first of the week to stay through harvest. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Sittner's little daughter was baptized at the Evangelical morning service Sunday.

Charlie Hill returned from Emporia last Saturday where he had been attending the Y. M. C. A. Encampment.

There will be no services at the Evangelical church next Sunday, or on Sunday, July 2, as the pastor will be absent. A nice bunch of yaps paid Hudson a visit early yesterday morning. Remarkable how much some' people havn't any sense. One of the two prominent and influential financiers of this city says there are only two mean men in Hudson. Wonder who he can mean.

Fred Talley came home Thursday morning Colorado, where he has been staying with his sisters. Dawson, Attorney General and Ray H. Beals, County Attorney, filed a suit in the District Court of Stafford County, against the Standard Oil Company of Indiana, a corporation, to recover penalties for violation of the antitrust laws of the state of Kansas. The petition alleges that the Standard Oil Company is an arrangement, contract, agreement, trust or Combination with the Standard Oil Company of Kansas, the Standard Oil Company, and the Prairie Oil and Gas Com pany, and that the same is done with view to prevent full and free com-petion in the importation and sale of petroleum in Stafford County, Kansas, and that the same has advanced the vprice of petroleum in Stafford County. If penalties are recovered they will be turned into the county treasury for the benefit of the school fund. Mr.
