We would like to suggest to the singers and music lovers of Dodge that there is an abundance of musical talent in our midst going to seed out of which a first class musical society could eaisly be formed if any one would take the miteateve. Lauber and Jack St Clair, the organizers and main support of the famous cowboy band of this city, have gone to Denver to take part in the inaugural cermonies of Gov. Allen on the 11th inst. They will be joined at Pueblo by fifteen or twenty musicians who have played with them many times betore and some grand music is confidentially expected of them. It will be remembered that this band visited many of the eastern cities, some years ago equipped in full cowboy regalia, and the sensation they created was due no more to their unique appearance than to the excellence of their performance. They received a rousing ovation in every city they visited and in several large ones tempting inducements to stay were offered them.

This band is somewhat scattered now, more than one half of the players having left this city, but when they all get together as upon this occassion, to renew old tunes and times, we may well look for something muiscally great. Dodge City, Jan. 5th, 1886. EDITOR SUN: Some comment has been occasioned by my withdrawing part of my stock in the Dodge City Building and Loam Association, and it seems that some stockholders fear something has got wrong with the Association. I wish to say that no institution of this City is in a more prosperous tion; that I have perfect confidence in the present officers and that my withdrawal of stock is for temporary and personal reasons.

I advise all stockholders to stay in. Very Respectfully, B. F. Milton. A Trade Misunderstood, Sherif Sughrue and his assisiants were skirmishing around at a lively rate Tuesday afternoon.

It seems that several horse traders, who have been in town some days were at the barn of Geo. B. Cox trying to negotiate a "swap" and according to them the trade was effected with one of Cox's men. Tne strangers took two of Cox's horses about noon, for which they claim to nave traded, and started into the country. A fuss was kicked up about it and Pat Sughrue Ed Prather and Grant Wells stared in pursuit.

When two or three miles from town the men were overtaken and returned without resistance They still maintained that they came by the horses fairly and honestly and after a few minutes of parleying at the barn the men took back their old horses, Mr Cox his and the matter was dropped and nobody was out any thing but the officers. However the Lord generally. looks out for a Dodge City Cop. Four Decades Together. There was a very pleasant gathering of friends at the residence of Mr.

In Mascotte, the sheph erd boy, who by the way was once a rich and titled Englishman, and Mascotte, especially distinguished themselves. The duette between them of "Gobble, Gobble" and "Bah" was one of the best rendered and sweetest bits of song we ever heard.

The Princess also acquited herself with much credit and his "Royal nobs" convulsed the house with laughter. Taken as a whole the company is a very strong one perhaps the best of the kind that ever visited thi; city and we can say to neighboring towns that they will do well to patronize it. On the second night Ollivette was played and played well; the feature of the evening being the duette tween Ollivette and the countess. On the third night the company "fell down," in their selection of the Mikado and their best efforts failed to awaken either interest or enthusiasm. The trouble however was not with the piece for in our judgement the Mikado is no more a burlesque than a bore and no amount of merit in a troupe can re claim its inherent imperfections.

Will Burgess and Marcus Clute have the company in charge in this section and we hope they may conclude to visit us again. A slanderous Fraud. Fred Singer received the following letter yesterday. The fraud of whom inquiry is made will be remembered by many of our charitably inclined citizens. Sterling, Jan.

3rd, 1887. Dear young man- badly crippled, by name of Hendricks, selling needles, was here yesterday and by getting aid left last night for the eastern part of the state. He claims that he was robbed of all his money in your city, on being questioned closely I find his story does not hang together very well. He mey have been robbed, but if he was I'm inclined to think he was somewhere that he ought not to have been. I knew this fellow in Ohio very well, and his reputation was not of the best.

I would like to know if there is any thing in his story. Confidentially S. S. Dix. We are happy to inform Mr.

Dix that the story told by Hendricks is an unmitigated lie. He was in the city some days ago selling needles, and owing to his physical disability, was very liberally patronized and he left town with more money probably than he had seen for a year. Such shameless scamps as he, who live upon the people's favor and slander the hand that feeds tnem, are responsible for the foul name that Dodge has long had. This meningetis manikin ought to be passed around. QUEENSWARE AT REEUCED PRICES AT W.
