The various candidates for office are bestirring themselves in great shape. The banks report a large increase of business during the past two weeks. J. E. Mellicker, of Bellfont, was in the city on last' Saturday.

He says that tha east end of the county will go Democratic this fall without a doubt. The Democrats are in the lead and propose to stay there until the election takes place. Elsewhere will be found a notice in regard to a large sale of town lots at Ford City on Sept. 23. Ford is a rapid growing town and its city property is constantly increasing in value and we predict a large sale on that day as it is a splendid investment.

This town is located 20 miles east of Dodge City, on tjpe south side of the Arkansas river, and on the line of survey of the Witchita Westeri R. R.

W. being only about one year since they began to make a town, and it has at present about 400 inhabitants, with gaud school and church privliedges. Thfc town is located in the heart of a large farming territory, the best in the county, which is well settled with a thrifty set of farmers.

We believe this is the best chance for a speculation that has ever yet been olTered to the public, in this country in the shape of public sale of town lots. Parties going from Dodge to Ford will go down on the north side of the river until opposite the town, where they will find a free bridge spanning the river.
