Secro-tary, Mrs. Myrtle Mize; Cor. Secretary, Mrs. Mamie Askew. A vote of thanks was tendered the retiring president for her" efficient management of the Union the past year, and for ber untireing devotion to the cause of temperance, aad the noble stand she has ever taken in the cause of right and righteousness.

The union has raised and paid out out over forty dollars for State and National work, has circulated nearly two hundred copies of. temperance literature, besides furnishing our people with lectures by some of our best State and National workers, and though our work has been imperfect, we feel that it has not been in vain. She was 13 years, 3 months and 8 days of age. She had been a sufferer for many weeks. Her death is a bereavement to the community, she was loved and love-able. Elder Sleek preached the funeral sermon at the Christian church. She was buried in the Macksville cemetery. Dr. Aiford and family have tho sympathy of the whole community. It will soon be time for oar school to begin.

The school board has done all in its power to make the Macksville school one of the best in Kansas. The employment of Miss Salesbury failed. The contract sent her reached her a day late, as she had accepted employment in another school. The room she would have had has been given to Miss Nora Becktell of oui city, who is efficient, and should be acceptable to every patron of the We have two Macksville teachers, Miss Becktell and Miss Kennedy, which we are pleased to know are home talent, and equal in every respect to any imported teachers proposed for the departments they will oecupy.
