Tuesday morning Hon, Geo. N. Nichols showed ns a bunch of wheat from his farm which was badly injured by the Hessian fly. Many of the stalks were so weakened at the joints that they could not support themselves and fell down to the ground. In each of these injured' stalks found one or more of the pupa ot the lly, imbeded in its heart.

The sample was taken from that earliest sown, the later wheat being apparently uninjured.
