Stock of is OFFERED CD I 1 Saturday evening the Democrats of Stanton county held a grand ratification meeting in this city in honor of the nominees of the St. Louis Democratic National Convention Cleveland and Thurman the next President and Vice President of the United States. After marching through tho principal parts of the city the procession, headed by the drum corps, halted at the corner of Main street and Grant avenue and there the audience listened toa number ofthebest speeches ever delivered in the city. S. Wheeler was first called for and in a brief speech embodied many of the salient points that will enter into the discussion of the issues of the campaign.

Ho was followed by Prof. J. H. McMich-eal, E. B.

Spurgeon and'A. B. Reeves, each of whom made a fine effort, arousing the enthusiasm of the concourse, and showed that the gallant Democracy of Stanton county has materia! within its ranks that could successfully cope with any opposition. The threatening weather kept many at home in the country who would have attended. After giving three rousing cheers for Cleveland and Thurman the audience dispersed.

It was a splendid start for the opening of the campaign. Annual School Election. 2ext Thursday will be the annuval school election in this district. But one Director will be elected to fill the vacancy caused by the expiration of C. W. Knapp's term, Messrs.

Cowdin and Beatty holding over. We have heard the name of no one mentioned for the position but think that no better selection could be made than to have Mr. Knapp succeed himself. As a School Director he certainly has no superior. School Bond Election.
