He then returned to Illinois and studied medicine, and graduated at the Missouri Medical Col-lego nt St. Louis, in 1H81, aftor which he engaged in the practice of medicine in Illinois for two years; be then moved to Kansas and lias been a resident of the state since, now residing nt rierceville, where ho enjoys a good practice and has the confidence of the people.

Below we give a short biography of the candidates: WM. o. JACKSON. W. B.

Jackson, the democrntio candidate for county clork, was born in Philadelphia in 1834, nnd removed with his father to New Albany, Inuiaua, in 18-iG, where he was reared, and as a profession chose that of a carpenter. At the breaking out of the war he enlisted in the naval service and was made carpenter on the Ram-Switzerland of the Marine brigade. After the cloee of the war he went on the road as a traveling salesman for wholesale houses in Philadelphia and New York, which he followed until 1876, when he was elected clerk of the City of New Albany, which office he hold for six years. Iu 1883 he came to Kansas and resumed his trade that of a carpenter. He has resided in Garden City since 188-1.

In April 1886 he was appointed city clerk by G. Larnard, a republican, which office he filled with such satisfaction that he was re-appointed by Mayor Mims in 1887, and is now the present occupant of that position. J. PLTMELL, nominee for the office of county treasurer, was born in KuBsellville, Illinois, oa April 16, 1819. His father, Thaddens Plymoll, was Captain in the 24th Indiana volunteers, and was killed at the battle of Vicksburg while leading bis company in a charge.

After the close of the war Mr. Plymell moved, with his mother, to Robinson, Illinois, thence to Richland county, Illinois. He was educated in the normal school at Normal, Illinois. After finishing his education he came west and located at Wichita in 1872. He came to Garden City three years ago and engaged in the stage business.

He controls 800 miles of stage lines and rung the finest coaches in the southwest Mr. P. is a gentleman and well qualified for the po-position for which he has been nominated. LOUIS P. CO0NEOD, nominee for register of deeds, was born in Geeenfleld, Illinois, in 1860.

He graduated in the high school of Greenfield and then at the commercial college at Jacksonville, Illinois. After completing his Litiiu vsiiiue. usniou itj, auk. 1., .001.
