There were eight applicants for common school diplomas at the recent examinations. The following passed a satisfactory examination, and will receive the common school diploma: Gertie Render, Frank Criss. Ralph Lloyd, Rella Williams. All others who received grades over 80 may carry them over till next year. Miss Gertie Render having received the highest average in the examination is entitled to the one year's scholarship in the Washburn Academy, Topeka, Kansas, offered by that insti-1 tution.

So far as we can learn the work done by the teachers generally has proven very satisfactory to the patrons and pupils during the past year, which is the best evidence to a teacher of the success of his work. We notice that a bill has been introduced in the Ohio legislature, providing that in all the schools of the state the ballot laws, right of suffrage and mode and manner of conducting general, special and local elections shall be regularly taught all pupils of 12 years or more of age, and that no certificate shall be granted any person to teach school in any institution supported by general taxation who shall not pass a satisfactory examination upon the election laws. Kansas teachers and pupils would do well, also, to give a little more attention to these matters, for they are important in connection with our preparation for intelligent citizenship. Call on 7frs.
