promise of abundant harvest, said, 'Six days shalt thou labor and do all thy work; But the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work." It matters not wht we may think, with the Bible before us we must say it is wrong to harvest on the Sabbath, From Rev. S. P. Hoester, Trenton. As tha Sabbath is a divine institution we should be governed by the divine law in observing it; and this does not justify any person in working on the Sabbath for timely and temporal benefits.

A great many examples have proved that the divine favor does not accompany Sabbath work Therefore, as harvesting is for a timely benefit, it should not be done on the Sabbath. Whatever we engage in on this day should be an absolute necessity, or a work of love to God, or to our fellow man, CONFERENCE OFFICERS, liishop, N. Castle, D.D., Elkhart, Indiana. Presiding Elder, I. K.Haskins, Hoisington, Kansas.

R. Mjrer, Downs, Secretary, P. M. Herrick, Republic Missionary Treasurer, M.Jennings, Lovewell, Kansas don. I have only to say, the Bible is our guide.

It sayp, "Six days shalt thou labor and do all thy work etc." If God had intended harvesting on the Sabbath He would have put a clause in that commandment reading, "But thou canst harvest," or do such servile work. It the people would praise and honor God more with all their hearts He would care for the crop and there would be less desire for Sabbath breaking. Brethren trust God more. From Rev. M.

Jennings, Lovewell No. 1. Because, God has for-bidden any and all kinds of labor for profit or pleasure limiting labor on this this day to actual necessity; 2. Because, it destroys that tender conscientiousness for the Sabbath that must accompany a life of piety; 3. Because, the constitutional make up-of our natures demand the necessary rest in Harvest time that the Sabbath brings.

Observation has proven that the indi viduals who place themselves in harmony with nature's laws as well as moral laws are the happiest, mo3t useful to society and make the grandest success of life. From Rev. I. K. Haskins, P.

E. Is it Bight to Harvest on the Sabbath? It is lamentable that usually during the wheat and other harvests many farmers labor in the field during the entire week. Hence, wo publish answers from some of our pastors, to the above questions: From Rev. W. W.

Carper, Concor-dia. Onr Lord said, "The Sabbath was made for man and not man for tho Sabbath And it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath days-" But, if we will allow him to illustrate his own pro-cepts by his own example, wo will find thae "doing good" meant rendering needed assistance to human, or, at least, sentient beings. I can not find an instance where the master endorsed working for gain on the Sabbath day, The Sabbath is a human' necessity: 1. As a day of rest from secular labor; 2. As a day of special worship, and religious meditation.

The God of the Sabbath is also the god of tha harvest; and the commandment is as binding in harvest times as in planting times If circumstances should ever arise, when, by harvesting, on the Lord's day, I could relieve some suffering creature, then I think it would.be right. From Rev. Dr. E. S.
