E. Cochran, the City watch maker and Jewel ha opened up a branch establishment at Syracuse, witn Mr. Fred Wilms, a skilful jeweler and a pleasant gentleman. In charge. They occupy part of K.

During the temporary disability of our public we'll the past few days our people have been going to Kile's runeh for water, about seven miles northeast on tho Kendall road. The writer remembers A Sure Thing. Under tho above heading the Garden City Irrigator gives the following detailed account of a proposed railroad with headquarters at that place. One branch of the road will pass thro' the southern portion of Hamilton Co. By so doing it will go through the center of old Stanton county and so make Veteran a point on its line. Garden City in a southerly and soutueasterly direction to a point on the southern boundary line of Meade county; also from Garden City in a southerly and southwesterly course to the southern boundary of the state, The counties through which road will run are Cloud, Mitchell, Osborne, Rooks, Lincoln, Hut sill, Ellis, Trego, Rush, Site, Hodginaa, Lane, Finney, Stevens, Seward, Meade, Hamilton, Morton, Smith and Jewell. The esti-matecd length of the road is 475 miles. The petition for the election will be circulated at once and is so worded as to thoroughly guard the interests of the people and insure the construction of the road.
