6. THE KANSAS YOUNG LUTHERAN ways of a good moral and Christian character. It was decided at our last business meeting January 8th, to give a bazaar February 22-24, for the benefit of the new church edifice which is to be built, the work to be started as soon as possible. This work has been taken up with great enthusiasm, which is being manifested, not only by the Luther League, but by the Sunday school also. As a body of young people we are going to do our duty toward this cause, which has been a long felt want here at Scandia a new church.

Invitations have been extended to Revs. P. M. Lindberg of Omaha, H. E.

Sandstedt, Assaria, and A. S. Se-gerhammar, Axtell, to be with us at the bazaar. Quite a large hall has been arranged for, for this purpose. With the, Lord's blessing upon this work, we are confident; and sincerely believe it will prosper.

Our annual business meeting was held January 7th, when the following officers were: elected: Vice president, Eddie Martinson; secretary, Hattie Oberg; treasurer, Oscar Johnson; organist, Hilma Ralph; janitor, Swan Stevens; social committee, Eddie Tilberg; program committee, Swan Stevens, Hilma Ralph and Elin Engborg. As solicitor for The Kansas Young Lutheran, Elin Engborg. The income for the year 1908 was expenditure, $137.07, leaving a balance of $46.66. We also decided to make a donation of $26.00 to the congregation with the understanding that one-half the sum be given to Bethany College, the remaining half to the mission to help cancel the old debt.

Special preparations had been made by the league for the program January 3rd, when we had the pleasure of having Mr. Samuel Johnson and Wilbur Tilberg of Bethany College with us. Mr. Tilberg is a Marion Hill boy. Addresses were delivered by both.

Mr. Johnson spoke of "Our work in the League," and Mr. Tilberg of "Public Opinion." Mr. Johnson also favored us with a vocal solo. The remainder of the program consisted of recitations and select readings by members of the League.

The annual business meeting of the Luther League here was held Tuesday evening, January 19. The following officers were elected: Rev. A. S. Se-gerhammar (permanent) president; Robt.

Olson, vice president; Svea Schorling. N. U. Lagerstrom, Grace Lagerstrom, organist, and Edla Halstrom, Svea Schorling and Theodore Olson program committee. Etta Olson and Harry Ylan-der were elected solicitors for the Kansas Young' Lutheran.

Sunday evening, January 24, a devotional meeting was held. Bible verses, or passages, had been selected and written on slips of paper and distributed among the members and were read as the book, chapter and verse were called for. Robt. Olson, the vice president, conducted this meeting. It was well attended.

About 30 members of our Luther League and others were subscribers of the Kansas Young Lutheran during 1908. We hope as many will take our little paper during 1909. OSAGE CITY, KANSAS. The League held no meetings during the month of December, as the vice president thought there were too many other things going on. But we met January 8th at the home of Swan Anstrom's.

Besides the regular study of the Topics, we had election of officers, which were as follows: vice president, Florence Silven; assist, vice pres. Ellen Andreen; secretary, Laura Johnson; organist, Alida Hag-berg; vice-organist, Emelia Christen-son; treasurer, Frank Colstrom; program committee, Emma Colstrom, Ellen Andreen, and Edna Youngroot. Visiting committee, Bertha Young-root, Anna Rosenquist, and Anna Nordlund. Place finding committee, Florence Silven, Laura Johnson and Clara Almquist. The report of the treasurer was read and showed that the League was in good standing.

It was decided to start a pipe organ fund so we hope to get a pipe organ in the near future. There have been no meetings since this one, as we have been waiting the arrival of our new minister, but now we hope to have our meetings more regularly as Rev. Ahlin arrived the 22nd and we had the pleasure of, listening to his fine -sermon the 24th On the 25th, the congregation gave a reception to Rev. Ahlin at the Swedish hall. We are glad to welcome Rev.

Ahlin to Osage City. FREMONT. At our Luther League's first regular meeting this year held in the evening of Jan. 18, the following officers were elected: President, Rev. J.

P. Aurelius; vice Oliver Hawkin-soh; Seth Olson; Albin Lundquist; organist, Ida Flohr; librarian Hulda Olson; program committee, Esther Berg, Ephraim Daniel-son, Vida Hawkinson, Irene Swenson and Constancia Dahlsten. The two latter and Alex Dahlsten constitute the membership committee. Three social meetings have been held since New Year's on invitation of Rev. and Mrs.

Aurelius, Miss Swea Johnson, and Miss Esther Bergv This department of our young people's work is for the ensuing term under the sup-envision of Rev. Aurelius Anna Dahlsten, Ida Stromquist and Charles SCANDIA, KANSAS. The young' people here at Scandia have laid hold of the Luther League work more earnestly and with renewed interest since last October, when we had the pleasure of welcoming to our midst a pastor. Although the work was carried on through the summer, we realized what is meant to be without a leader. The League held its annual business meeting December 30, 1908, when the following officers were elected to serve for the coming year.
