THE MESSENGER. I I Hon. Reuben Emick of Kansas, VER. EMICK Feb. was 15, born 1812; in Married Rockingham early in life, raised a large and honored family.

He sent several sons to the Union army, one of whom was killed at Nashville. Mr. Emick served on special duty but was not an enlisted man. He cast his first vote for General Andrew Jackson, and in 1840 he voted for General William H. Harrison, and has voted for every whig or republican president since that time.

He is as active as a man of fifty and writes his name or reads a. newspaper without the aid of glasses. He has amassed a large fortune and controles the active management of it himself. Mr. Emick has been married twice.

By I his first wife, long since deceased, he has a grown family which composes some of our most honored citizens. By his second marriage he has three children, two girls and one boy, the latter now seven months old. He is a great admirer of General Benjamin Harrison, and when his son was born twentyseven days after the last presidential election he promptly called this young stranger Harrison Emick," after Judge G. F. Little of this city, and president elect Harrison, whose grandfather he knew and voted for fifty years ago.

He is surrounded by an amiable wife and devoted children, grandchildren and great-grand-children. He is in the enjoyment of splendid health and being a man of genial temperament and his word being as good as his bond, he enjoys the special distinction of being one of the most popular and honored citizens of Geary county. Mr. Emick says he intends to help re-elect General Harrison in 1892, and after that he will take his chances on the next president being a good republican. The MESSENGER extends to Mr.

Emick the compliments of the season, and hopes that in 1912 he will be as well and hearty as he is now- that he may bring up his young son Gilbert Harrison in the pathway of good, sound republican principles. For Sale. ARM of 444 acres, in Geary County, lying between Junction City and Fort Riley, in the bend of the Republican river, with the U. P. Ry.

Nice pasture stock lots around the river banks all under fence. Good barn for six head of horses, two dwelling houses, fine young orchard of apple, pear and cherry trees, some just commencing to bear. Soil of a sandy loam.
