Schnatterly, the Kinsley, merchant, was here Monday to spend the Fourth and to visit the wholesale houses.Mrs. Schnatterly accompanied him and remained in Hutchinson for the week, with friends. Geo. S. Bueford, the Nickerson druggist, was down this week, and transacted business at the jobbing houses of Hutchinson.

P. R. Graber, proprietor of a large general store at Pretty Prairie, was in this city on Wednesday, on business with the jobbers. W. R.

Guth, manager of the Home Mercantile company at Tampa, accompanied by his wife, spent Monday in Hutchinson at the celebration and remained over Tuesday. F. L. Farnsworth of Cullison, manager of the Farmers Elevator company, was a Thursday visitor to the wholesale district of Hutchinson. B.

Fred Howard, who has been manager of the A A drug store at St. John, is the manager of the new A A store opened this week at 325 North Main street in Hutchinson. The directors of the Central Kansas Fair Association have decided to spend $15,000 more than at first planned, in making improvements for this year's State Fair at Hutchinson. A. G.

Whitney of the Whitney Jewelry company of Wichita, visited in Hutchinson on Wednesday. The store of Gus Knobel at Bland, was burglarized in May. This week T. C. O'Daniels, who worked for Knobel in May, was arrested near Burrton and is charged with the robbery.

The Hutchinson Commercial Club has abandoned all night meetings until September first, and will transact business at the Friday noon luncheons held each week at the Elks club. E. P. McFarland stock at Hennessey, Fire on Monday night caused about $10,000 damage in the Midland hotel building, and for a time threatened Big Spread at the Bisonte Hotel on Thursday Night Celebrating the opening of the Hutchinson Board of Trade the grain men of this city prepared a banquet at the Bisonte Hotel oa Thursday night, at which time they were hosts to a large number of grain men from over the Southwest. Nearly a hundred grain dealers partook of the spread and took part in the discussion of grain problems which followed. T. J.

Templar, president of the Kansas Grain company, stated that Hutchinson today has a greater grain storage capacity than. Kansas City had when its board of trade was organized in 1878 Mr. Templar predicted the building of more big mills and, elevators in this city and said that hundreds of thousands of dollars could be profitably invested in building such conveniences for trade here. Huddleston, manager of the grain department of the Moses Bros. Mill Elevator company at Great Bend, Kansas, stated that the section of Kansas between the eastern line of Barton county and the western line of Ford, at Dodge City, would this year turn out fifty million bushels of wheat, which is more than Coburn's report predicts, Mr. Huddleston is optomistic for the future of western Kansas as a grain district The Hutchinson Board of Trade and interested grain men will endeavor to secure a state grain inspection station at Hutchinson, to expediate the grading and handling of grain through this gateway. The local grain men and visitors all speak very optomlstically of the future of Hutchinson as a grain center and all believe that the organization of the Hutchinson Board of Trade is a big step In the right direction.
