Hellen, a young German, who for some time was an employee at the Roughton House in this city, was arrested by Sheriff Gilland about two miles south of town last Friday morning, on the charge of grand larceny. Hellen has been for some time lodging around town without but it seems was not suspected of theft although some articles belonging to dill orent parties were missing.

On last Sabbath Mrs. George Lovering, wife of our county surveyor, who lives near Jetmore, and a sister who is visiting her, went out for a ride leaving no one at the house, and Mrs. L's sister's gold watch on a table in one of the rooms. When at some distance from the house the ladies saw Hellen approaching the house, and when they arrived nothing could be seen of the rogue, and the watch was gone. Sheriff Gilland was duly informed of the occurrence and has been shadowing Hellen, who remained in Jetmore until Thursday.
