MUSICAL DEPARTMENT. PERSONAL Prof. H. C. Scott is expected in a jew days.

He will reside at the corner of Santa Fe and Kirwin Avenues. Prof. D. McGurk spends hrs vacation in his charge. His father and sisters occupy the parsonage at Mentor and he lives there, but will return to his studies this fall.

Miss Ahlborn, Preceptress and Prof. The Salina District Camp Meeting commenced at Island Park, Gypsum City, Aug. 14, and continues 10 days. Able preachers, a good grove and reduced fare. Expenses moderate.

The Osborne District Camp Meeting commenced Aug. 17 and continues 10 days at Portis, Kas. Plenty of shade, fuel, water and straw. 1-4 mile from the depot. Board and lodging at reasonable rates.

Everybody and all denominations invited. Camp Meeting at Delphos commences Ang. 23 and continues over Sabbath. Arrangements are made at all of these meetings for all that may come, and a profitable and pleasant time is expected. We would be glad to be at all of ihem, but if absent in body, will pray hat the Holy Spirit may rest upon them abundantly.

J. GUILE, JR. A complete course has been laid out for those who desire a systematic training in the Art of Pianoforte playing. Only the. best authorized methods will be employed, and great pains will be taken in the technical and ar-tistical development of the pupil.

Those entering the, department and completing the course will be required to perform at the public fe-hersals and concerts, and various entertainments given by the University, The time required to complete the course will depend upon the ability and dilligence of the pupil. Before receiving a diploma, the pupil must take Harmony and Theory at least two terms, and be able to pass a satisfactory examination in each. He will be expected to answer general questions in musicial History and Biography. Each course represents on the average one year's work. first course.

We trust all will observe Kansas Wesleyan Day, the last Sunday in or as near that time as possible. There The Salina Distric Conference at Tescott, June 10-21 was well attended and profitable. The brethern requested us to represent the Kansas Wesleyan Advo cate, which we did, and after this they endorsed the paper in a very practical manner, pledging themselves to secure ten subscribers on each charge or pay for that many for six months at least. This was done by individual members making the pledge. We left at 4 p.

m. the second day to go to the Ellsworth District Ministerial Association at Hays City, where we met the brethern. There was quite good attendance of earnest workers. Quite a change has taken place here in the last two years. A new church has been built and a society established.

We were heartily welcomed by the brethern and invited to represent the W. after which most of the brethern followed the example of those of the Salina District, thus dividing the responsibility with us and increasing the circulation and usefulness of the paper. We had an educational meeting at night, addressed by the editor and Rev. G. W.

Grabe, the agent. Had I a good time. reports concerning students for this fall. Will all the pastors please make inquiry and send us reports, as requested by circular. Rev.

G. W. Grabe has resigned the agen cy of the Kan sas Wesley an University and gone into the real estate business in the firm of Acton, Grabe 'Co. We wish them abundant success. Rev.

A. W. J. Best has resigned his charge at Hays City and gone to Florida. His address is- Webster, Florida.

EDITORIAL The candidates are before us. DEMOCRAT, Mr. Cleveland. His record is well known. Mr.

Thurman is said to have favored the South during the war and since. PROHIBITIONIST. General Fisk was a Union General and a Methodist of high standing. Mr. Brooks was in the Rebel army; claims to now be loyal, and is a minister of the Christian Church.

REPUBLICAN. Gen; Harrison, a Union General; a lawyer, a statesman, and a member of the Presbyterian Church. Mr. Morton, a successful and very popular banker of New York. Choose ye PERPETUAL SCHOLARSHIP.

Persons desiring perpetual scholarship at $200 in the Kansas Wesleyan University, must purchase them before January 1, as the Trustees have decided to issue no more after Dec. 31. They may be purchased now by paying $25 per year with interest at 8 per cent, on deferred payments, and are available for tuition in the Uni-versity courses. Information will be furnished by the Secretary of the Board of Trustee at Salina. was a mistake in printing the amount of endowment in program.

We should have stated $31,000 by sale of scholarships, the exact amount is $32,625, and 130,000 by sale of lots..
