i. -lb Seven Sealed Apocalypse. William Hohbs. "Axd I saw in the right hand of him that sutft ion the throne a book writteu within and mt6he backside sealed with seven seals." Eifw. 5:1.

That this book was the book of Rifivela'ion, from the opening of the ferst seal to close of the book, is evident from the fact that what is -wiritten thereafter comes under these seals, as these are opened in consecu-tee order. And these were there-hare opened when John received this iCTelation on the isle of Patmos, in A. D. 96. And when John saw this fecook, or scroll, he says, "And I saw a sarong angel proclaiming with a loud pice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof.

And no man in heaven, nor in earth, nveither under the earth, was able to sfen the bok, neither to look thereon. And I wept much because no one was found worthy to open and to read" ifihe book, neither to look thereon. And one of the elders saith unto me. Weep not: behold, the of the teribe of Judah, the Root of David, Btath prevailed to open the book, and 60 loose the seven seals thereof. And 1 (beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the tftirone and of the four beasts- and in tlhe midst of tha elders, stood a Lamb aes it had been slain, having seven fciorns, an seven eyes, which are the seven spirits ot God sent forth into aill the earth.

And he came and took tlbe book out of the right hand of him S'hat on the throne. And when hie had in ken the hook, the four beasts four and twenty ciders fell 3vvn belorc Lamb, having every esne of them- harps, and golden vials fiaill of odours, which ire the prayers saints. And they sang a new song saying, Thou art worthy to tale the book, and to loose the seals there- JOI 1:1011 a niaiu, aiici nasi IC" us God ly thy blood, out effi -every kindred, and tongue, and frtcople, and nation: and hast made us vmAo God kings and priests: and wte shall reign on the earth." verses 3r-Jo. As thtse four heasts sing this song erf redemption, it is ck-ar proof that these symbolize the universal church God. And as it is said ot these, tfoiut "they cease not day and night, Afiwrighty, which was, and which is, and, which is lo come." They must feeaMistent, to thus continuously sprc H'Ik" holiness of D.

96. 1 hus the account reads as follows: "And I saw when the Lamb had opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts, Come and see. And I saw, and beheld a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow: and a crown was given unto aim, and he went forth conquering and to cenquer." Chap. 5:1,2. The four different coloured norses in Zechari-ah's visions are said to be "the four spirits of heaven." Hence we may conclude that these represent the religious character of the different riders.

And as white is an emblem of purity, it also reprev-sents perfections; white being a combination of the seven primary colours. Hence this must represent the religion of Christ in its original purity, as exemplified in the teachings and life of Christ. Thence it follows that the rider represents Christ; and the bow, his using the arrows of conviction to conquer thereby. And the crown, that only one that he was ever crowned with here, "a crown of thorns. By these he went forth conquering, ind to conquer, whence we should in fei that he would gain other crowns fin ally, as in chap.

19: 1 1-16. And this proves the absolute identity between these two representations as applying to Christ. "And when he had opened the se-ond seal, I heard the second beast say, Come and se And there went out another horse that was red: and power was given unto him that sat thereon to take peace from the earth', and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword." ver.3:4. If the white horse denotes a pure religion, this red horse denotes one akin thereto, but of a degenerate breed. Hence it must have been the Catholic religion composed of Arians and Trinicarians, before the establishment of the latter to the exclusion of the former.

If the read ers wishes to know how they killed one another they can find out. by reading Gibbon's History. But we will leave this to consider the next seal, and what was revealed by its being opened. "And when he had opened the thud seal, I heard the third beast say, (rni nriH cap Kp 11 onrl lo a black horss; and he that sat on hiir. had a pair of balances in his hand.

And I heard a voice in the midst of the four beasts say, A measure of wheat for a denarius, and three measures of barley for adenar- its, and se thou hurt not the oil, and the wine." The denarius, the Revisors on Matt. 17:28, states, was "worth about eight pence So the price of the wheat, and the barley, indicates scarcity, probably! caused by their killiiy one another un-! der the rule of the red horse religion. And as these four horses represent the four prevailing religions, the black horse must therefore represent, the Mohammedan reli gion. And since their religion warred against idolatry, and tolerated Jews and Christian on condition ot their paying tribute, this is what is meant by their not nurting the oil, nor the wine. And when he had opened the fourth seal, 1 hoard the voice of the fourth beasl say, Core and see.

And I looked, and heh a pale horse: and he that sat on him was Death, and Hell fol. owed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the heasts of the earth, vers 7,8. I his ol course represents the criel, bloody intolerant Papacy; for it was the Papacy that had power over the fourth part of the earth, or Western Rome. And since a pale horse is akin in colour to white, this may denote the vain pretentions to be the successor to the white.

But their cuel slaughter of lhos3 who rejected their creed, by all manner of rruelitics, shows that Death and Hell held high carnival ONACQU AINTED WITH THE GEOGRAPHY 0FTHIS COUNTRY WILL OBTAIN MUCH VALUABLE INFORMATION FROM A STUDY OF THIS MAP OF THE cannot be bought for less than at retail.
