In proportion to the size of the city in which it is printed. The Kansas City Star has a larger circulation than any other American newspaper. Its remarkable success has been achieved bv its unfalter-adhernnce to the rule of giving its readers the best that The Star's increasing revenues could furnish and its improved facilities could supply. The Star was the first newspaper to give its readers a full weeks papers six evenings' and Suu- day morning for 10 cents, a thing that could not be profitable except when done on the big scale on which the Star does everything. The Star was also the first to establish a weekly edition for the trifling price of 25 cents a year; 110,000 regular circulation for the weekly edition demonstrates the wisdom of the idea.

Swartz of Colusa this oouuty. "Say, brother farmers why not locate closer together and cultivate smaller patches of land. Let these farms then be fenced one large body, then we would have all the outside country for range for our stock. This would also give us many conveniences as we could all be closer to churches and schools, our postoffice would be more accessable and windbrakes could be formed. We cannot hardly expect to have plensarit homes without irrigating at least a small tract of land.

Let us locate nearer each other and make a good well which we can own in common, and live as neighbors, then when we want to visit it will not take an entire dav to make the journey. Let us catch all the rainfall and snows and store the surplus water in ponds, thus a small tract of land will be worth more than a large farm of 160 acres. By pursuing these plana people would be induced to settle with us thus making a number of good farms and homes, upon which mouey could be borrowed to farther our improvements, for we have fine soil for every kind of produce, especially fruit. If this finds its way into print I should like to hear from others. R.
