Mr. Newell who has been laid up for the past few weeks with erysipelas, is improving rapidly. Mr. John Keene who has been visiting Mrs. Walsh's, in Medina, for the past month, returned to his home in Ohio last Monday.

Mr Keene in the short time he was here, formed many acquaintances in Medina acd Perry, who will miss his pleas ant countenance kind words. Joseph Douglas means business. He has just received a cew stock of furniture, and more are on the way. Hurrah for Perry. Mr.

Cool will move to the farm he has rented on the other eideof the Delaware, this week, and Mr. Bouton will move into the house vacated by him. Our Thompsonville items were intended for publication last week but were received at this office too late in the week to put them in type. We publish them this week. King went South again Wed-nesdey evening, in the interest of the marble firm for whom he 13 agent. He will return to-day. The Hancock English Club met last Saturday afternoon at the school house. They had quite a lively time up Stone House creek, last Monday afternoon, where Messrs. Grossman and Wilkerson, were trying to thresh some flax.

The flax was not in very good condition for threshing, and the machine wouldn't work very well, so all hands mad, knives were drawn, hatchets branished shovels thrown around, and pitchforks smashed, in such a reckless manner, that everybody on the ground got scared. There was considerable wind spent, but no blood spilled.
