Defeated, But Jiot Discouraged. The democracy of Harvey county met their opponents in a fair, square and open fight at the ballot box on the 2nd, and were downed to the tune of from 30 to 70 plurality. We were defeated it is true, but our vote is one of which every democrat should be proud. Democracy may be defeated, and usually is in Kansas; but its principles, never. They are just principles, and will live, mil) the democratic party will live with them.

Every election in Kansas sees an increase in the party strength and their numbers even now are such as to cause consternation and dismay in the ranks of the republican party. The democratic party is the party of the future as it has been of the past, and no man need be ashamed to stand forth and advocate its principles. It is here to stay, and will eventually win. even in Harvey, one of the strongholds of republicanism.
