Surprise quiltings are on the increase. Tom Long and Will Watson said fairwell to their "best" girls and started for Texas on Tuesday evening. "I know" would inform the worthy correspondent that he knows just as much as he always did but that he got around just a little too late last week. Lou. Ellis is the boss hunter.

Stephen Monroe has sold his farm to Geo. McLain who will take possession the first of January. Mr. Monroe is going east. Miss Celia Downing visited at ber on Moune Creek Saturday and Sunday.

George Ellis has been hauling corn from Mound Creek this week. Dr. Delos Walker, of Greeley, delivered one of the finest lectures Wednesday night that we have listened to for some time. It is so seldom we hea. a good temperance speech that we can appreciate one when we do hear it.
