Whetstone was away laying in a stock of new goods for the spring trade, but his clerk Milt Garrison was busy counting eggs with both hands. At the Pomona House we noticed iuite a crowd of drummers, so we concluded business must be good there. Parker Brink-erhoff's livery stable was well crowed-ed with teams from tle countjy, showing that the farmers were confident that the boys would do- the fair thing by them. This is the only livery stable in town, and the boys are well liked by all, and have a good patronage. T.

Newconib is doing a good business in the insurance, loan and realestate line. He is a gentleman large bus- inm experience, and all that transact: business through him maT feel assured that it is done right. J. II. Parkinson has a store well stocked with general merchandise, and is doing a good business.

Postmaster (ilenn the only man in town that we have met that does not seem perfectly happy, and he is mad, at an overgrown mail sack full of patent medicine circulars. Otherwise bis business is perfeetfully satis factory. Our Doctors say that there is not much business for them, on account of its being such a lealthy locality, still, they are happy because others are. A. E.

A. Brown St lumber dealers are doing a good business and their gentlemanly agent, Mr. Swayze, is making many friends among our people. Charlie Chrisman says he is always happy as long; as he- has a head of hair to cut. or a sale to cry, but for l'ar that he might need something else lie has concluded to add a restaurant to bis already profitable business, and is now fully prepared to feed all that comes unto him that are hungry, (ieorge Uilom has a large and well selected stock of hardware, stoves and farm implements, and has a very good trade.

The Misses Lawrence Curry Milliners have one of the neatest and best stores in the county and although they have not been here very long they carry an immense stock of goods and have a large and steadily trade. T. J. M. Alexander has a large stock of Drugs, medicines, Paints and Oils. She is selling large quantities of wall-paper this spring, and reports business steady and good.

J. W. Spangier keeps busy" pegging away from morning till night. He carries a full stock of Harness Goods, sells as cheap as the cheapest. Wolfe Carroll are remodeling the old mill and getting it ready to do all kinds of custom grinding.
