Attend the Grange meeting in Lane Saturday. The question of moving the grange meeting place to Baker church will be voted on. The next meeting of the Baker Community Club is set for Wednesday Sept. 29th. An excellent program has been prepared and' a fine social treat awaits all who come.

Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Gerth left Wednesday noon Tor weeks. visit with friends in Ottawa. Lance Vinson will hold down Mr.

Gerth's position at depot during his vacation. Mr. and Mrs. Will Stahdiford and two children of Denver, came Tuesday to visit Mrs. Tillie Brownlee and family.

Miss Birdean Rowland spent the week end in Kansas City visiting friends. Lance Vinson went to Coffey -ville Saturday and took examination qualifying as relief telegraph operator. C. H. Shively sold his place north of town Monday.

Vera White Suniayed with home folks. A number of Lane young people went out to the banks of the raging Mosquito last Sunday evening and enjoyed a chicken fry supper got up ala camp style. Those present were Mr and Mrs. Geo. Howard.

E. Cross has been galvant-ing about Lynn county for several days. Mrs. J. W.

LaFollette was under the weather the first of the week. That Chestnut Grove carnival Saturday night was more than a grand success, it was a jam of hilarity and fun all the way from sunset till midnight. The bunch back of it had the dynamic force to make it go, and go it did like a whirlwind from start to finish. Tuesday morning Mr. and Mrs.

Harry A. McClelland and son Robert Earl of Augusta, Kansas, Clare R. Joyce of Ottawa, and Miss Ava Culick of Lane, drove down from Ottawa in the McClelland car and spent the day with Mr. and Mrs. Will Daniels.

The ladies are sisters and granddaughters of Mrs. Daniels Miss Culick returned to Ottawa for a longer visit with her sister from Augusta. John Hopwood is visiting in Westphalia and Burlington. A gas well was brought in last week on Mrs. Seymours' place, near Rantoul.

Everett and Johnnie Hidgon visited the Chestnut Grove school last Wednesday afternoon! Mr. Doman last Thursday was on nis way to worK roaas wnen his horse got scared at the rain, turned around, broke loose and started for home. Mr. Doman escaped with getting hurt.
