John Uraphrey was a little late for Sunday school but was in time for preaching Sunday. Although John lives in Pratt he is more punctual than some that live in Haviland. C. W. Amick, with Henry Davis as helper, is loading cars with corn as fast as they can hall it.

They have several car loads ready sacked over the country th it will be hauled in as soon as tne roads improve. The question that is agitating the minds of the city dads is when does a pup ceasa to be a pup. From present indications the last session of the 59th congress will have to deal with the Negro shape we ever saw them. The Association We are indebtet to D. L. Feas-ter for the following report of the Teachers association at Greensburg last week; The Southwest Katsas Teachers association was held in Greensdurg last Thursday and Friday and not withstanding the bad weather a large i. umber of teachers attended and the meeting was one of the best in the history of the association. One of the best numbers on the program was an illustrated lecture on Improvement of school grouns, by Prof.

Kern of Illinois. Oa thursday night a lecture was given by a representi-tive of the state University which was good. On Friday afternoon an address was given by Hon. J. W.

Davis on Literature as a profession, which was a master production and was well appreciated. The last thing on the program was the declamation contest Friday night and was said to be the best contest in the history of the association. There were sev eral contestants, Edwards county receiving first honors and Kiowa, represented by Miss Lyda V-r pdall, second. The next meeting1 will Be held at Meade, Ruby York who was danger ously sick the first of the week is much batter now and it is hoped she will fully recover. Mr.

The elevators have had plenty of cars recently and they now have room for more corn since loading out their wheat.
