Keeps Constantly on Hand a Full Line of Patent Jledidlnes. WELLSFORD KANSAS 0 AND TOBACCO. B. G. HORTON, In round numbers the treasury of the Uuinted States contained four hundred and sixty millions of dollars cash on the first day of the present nidnth.

Nearly half a billion dollars! This is the amount which has accumulated upon the hands of our governmct, notwithstanding the tremendious sum that is continually being spent in the payment of pension, interest and public debt which latter item consumes several millions a month. This immense sum is not needed and it must be dangerous to keep It. Many methods are suggested for getting rid of it but those who desire to pour it out among the states seem to like the idea of continuing the swollen rush of accnmilation. A large majority ot the people, however, have now settled down to the idea that a reduction of taxation is the first remedy. Upon the method of securing this reduction, tnongh.

the two great parties are at variance. The Republicans, especially of Pennsylvania, desire that the tax be removed from whiskey and tobacco. In that state the idea is equally championed by Samuel J. Randall and Pig Iron Kelley. But the Democracy favors a reduction on the tariff taxation on the necessaries of life.

Which is better? If we need whisky and tobacco we must support the Republican idea, but if we rather need cheaper wagons, hoes, plows, reapers, axes, table and pocket cultury, dishes, bets, hoes, trowscrs and shirts in fact every thing of dally use to the poor if it is these we would have made cheaper, then we must endorse as President Cleveland has signed a willingness to do the recommendation of Wm. K. Morrison of Illinois, Frank Hurd of Ohio, R. Q. Mills of Texas and John G.

Carlisle of Kentucky. These men are Democrats, and great masses of the people are beginning to accept their advke How can it be possible for a sane man to advocate cheap whisky and tobac while the prices of the common articles of daily use are trebled by enormites of tariff taxation is a problem altogether too abttrued for HEADQUARTERS FOB Boots, Shoes, Hats, Caps, Gloves, QUEENSWARE, WOODENWARE, And in fact everything kept in a first-class store for cash.
