As a further means of bringing the train to a halt a large heap of stones had been piled on the track near the bridge. As the tram stopped six men, also masked, emerged from the darkness and placed the engineer and firemen between them and the line of fire from the passenger cars and then command ed Losky, the Pacific express tnesser gcr, to open his car. In a determined tone ho declined to do so, whereupon the robbers fired several shots into tbe ear. The reports apprised the passen gers of the situation. COWARDLY COLORED SOLDIERS.
