Reports from farmers in sixty-eijrht counties 3n IOnens phow that the past wintr rwas the coldest known in the history of the state; notwithstanding, the condition of the wheat is almost universally ood. Peach buds were killed pretty generally, hut the prospects for fruit of other kinds is frood, excepting blackberries in a few exposed places. An nnusnal amount of fall pTnwinr was done, which tet the farmers well ahead with spring work. A great, deal of oats is already sown, and there will be a larger acreage of com planted than ever before.

There is but one thing we know about farming in Kansas and we have learned that by twenty years cxperU erico and observation mostly oberva tion. The early, farmer in, Kansas is the one that raises th6 crops. Farmers romlni? from epst govern their farm'nf v. th? rxwrinnee c-iinod there Slid hoi 4 beH Yom ptitm' their crops in the fo avoid the pprintr rains and late frosts. A Kansas sprin? Just the oppostte.

There are no cold rains and late frosts. Corn comes up with the grass. The first day that the plow can be'started it ought to be put into the work, the ground prepared and the seed planted; but little rain will fall in March, April, and along in May. The latter part of May the rains will begin to fall and continue through June. Lucky is the man whose corn is in frood condition to go into the wet, spMl.1 A cold, wet spring that rots the corn in the ground, is the exception; and frost never.

The early farmer raises crops in Kansas. Kiowa Herald.
