"The Leavenworth Times is against Curtis for the senate because he is a liar; a common every dav liar who lies because it is hard for him to tell the truth." It seems that Mr. Anthony who failed to be reappointed postmaster at Leavenworth claims, which Mr. Curtis denies, that Mr. Curtis said h.e would recommend his re-appointment as postmaster if Anthony would pay his rival for the office $600. He did it too late however to get credit for its hurting his feelings. It looks like his conscience had a coating and the failure to get the postoffice knocked off the skin and the boodle proposition then got in, its harrowing work on a sore spot. It needs a piaster.
