Close has had an air motor mill put up in his pasture and he says it runs like a top. It would bo easier these days to name those who do not have windmills than to name those who have as you can see windmills now in all directions. We -can say for our immediate neighborhood that we have not done much planting or seeding yet for which we are not sorry. Harry Kelley is on the farm again. Last Saturday night we were awakened and notified that there was a terrible prairie fire out in the north part of our neighborhood, and of course we went to help fight the terrible foe, and by skillful back firing and hand fighting succeeded in stopping it by daylight Sunday morning.

How the fire got out we have not yet learned. Will the people ever learn to be cautious about patting 'otn fire, knowing the nature and danger of the same. Isaac Mann, of near Otis, 'had the misfortune to have his house and household goods, out buildings, machinery and feed for stock burned on last Thursday. The loss included about one thottsand bushels of wheat and a large amount of corn and oats. It commenced raining here yesterday in the forenoon and kept it up through the day and greater part of the night and wis followed by a light snow this morning end more rain to-day. The ground is thoroughly soaked to the great advantage ef the wheat which will now be in splendid condition 'and promises to exceed the large yield of last year. NOTICE.

Wm, Russel closed one of the most successful terms of school last Friday that has been taught in district 13 for the past seven years. The scholars under his instruction are better by 45 per cent and all speak well of him and if money can hire him the board propose to have him teach the coming term.
