Dr. Hinshaw was in Salina Tuesday. Ralph Low was up from: Wichita to spend Sunday, Frank Crowell was transacting business in Abilene Tuesday. Mrs. J.

W. Neil is spending a few weeks at Excelsior Springs. Dunmire Bros. shipped out three cars of fine steers Tuesday night. Tom Sellards was in Kansas City on business a few days this week.

B. K. Sanford made a business trip to the county capital Wednesday. FOUND-Breast-collar and traces of single harness. Call at this office.

Dr. Roberts and Bert Shoemaker were in Abilene a few hours Tuesday. John McKenzie was in Kansas City Wednesday with a car of fat hogs. Mr. and Mrs.

Ren Sias went to Niles Tuesday evening to visit friends. Judge John Shaver left last Friday for Salt Lake City, Utah, for an extended visit with his son, Ben, and family. Mrs. 0. Vanderwilt and daughter Myrtle were Abilene visitors Tuesday.

Miss Florence Etherington of Muskogee, Oklahoma, is now a typo 011 the Tribune. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Starrett and Mr. and Mrs.

James Andrews visited the county seat Tuesday. Mrs. W. L. Olson, Curtis and Stuart will leave the first of next week fora visit at their old home in Wakeeney.

Mrs. O. Kuhn was on the sick list the first of the week. Bruce Shawhan of Abilene visited in Solomon a few days this week. I.

Chas. Dobson has been on the sick list the past week, suffering from a severe attack of pleurisy. Prof. W. O.

Steen left last Monday for Washington county, where he will conduct a normal institute during the coming month. Mr. and Mrs. H. Bannon left Wednesday noon for Excelsior Springs.

Mr. Bannon will return in 8 few days, but his wife will remain at the springs several weeks. R. Elwick Son Frank Erwin was up from Kansas City the fore part of the week to visit his father-in-law, John Riordan, who has been seriously ill for some time. Howard Likeley was down from Solomon Reflector. No doubt Howard is a very likely young man but it is not likely that he is a resident of Solomon, as no body here ever heard of him. The Ladies' Aid society of the Presbyterian church will meet next Wednesday afterneon at the home of Mrs.

There seems to be no letup to the automobile craze, and almost every fellow who can raise the price either has a machine or is figuring 011 one. The Central Kansas Automobile Co. of Salina sold seven machines last Monday. In the time card issued by the Rock Island last Sunday the Motor Express" takes the place of the new passenger train that was put on a few months ago. This would indicate that the motor is soon to be put on the run again.

L. D. Sias and wife loaded their household goods into a car last Monday and shipped them to their new home in Higgins, Texas. They have purchased a restaurant at that place and will take charge of the business the 15th of this month. Prof.

C. E. Hanson, at one time principal of the Solomon schools, was a guest at the home of Frank Henderson last Friday and Satarday. Mr. Hanson is now a member of the faculty of the state normal school at Warner, Okla.

Bill Gregory predicts a high death rate among the people of Solomon during the next few months. He says that since the new booze law went into effect the people are drinking so much water that they will soon rust their stomachs out. Ray Jenness made a flying trip to Florence, Kansas, in his automobile the latter part of last week. He was accompanied by W. R.

Johnston and wife and Atty. Bartlett of Carneiro, and Jas. Sheeran of this city. 'The party returned to Solomon Sunday forenoon. Dr.

White is in receipt of a letter from Dr. S. K. Shenck, formerly of this city but 110 of Wichita, in which he says that Mrs. Shenck is suflering from an attack of articular rheumatism and is absolutely helpless.

She will be taken to Excelsior Springs at once. There is considerable complaint about the damage done to gardens, lawns and flower beds by the town cows while being driven to and from the pasture. It is said that unless the boys having charge of the cows are more careful in the future that somebody will have damages to pay. The rains the fore part of the week were a big benefit to the corn, wheat and potato crops. The rains were general over the state, but were much heavier in the western part.

The Union Pacific's big new train was four hours late Monday morning, caused by a washout west of Ellis. Through the kindness of Bert Ramsey, we had the pleasure last Sunday afternoon of visiting the big wheat fields a few miles southeast of town. The best piece of wheat we saw was on the Mrs. Robt. MeCullough farm--a field of about 160 acres, standing four feet high and level as a floor.

This field will undoubtedly yield 35 to 40 bushels per acre. All of the wheat in this neighborhood, except one field, is unusually good and a bumper crop is a certainty. A great many jokes are told about limburger cheese. Here is one: A man went home one night carrying a piece of limburger cheese which he placed on the dining room table. Next morning his wife said to him: What did you bring home last night? The cats have clawed all the varnish off the table trying to cover it up.

The Citizens' Lumber Co. W. A. SWIFT, Mgr. Kate Talpey Dewer was born in Jackson county, Missouri, October 16, 1866, and moved to Kansas in July, 1874.

All the rest of her life was spent at Solomon, excepting thirteen years at Salina and one in Topeka. She was baptised and United with the Methodist church March 1, 1882, under the pastorate of Rev. W. W. Wills.

She died Wednesday evening, June 2, after an illness of several weeks' duration. She leaves four brothers, two sisters and father, besides a host of friends who sincerly mourn her loss. Miss Dewer ranked always as 2 lady of culture, refinement, sympathy, a kind neighbor and a true friend, and withal a lady of heroic mould in bravely meeting the sterner requirements and often the disappointments of life. The funeral services were held at the M. E.

church at 2 o'clock last Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Alexander Bryans, after which the remains were tenderly laid to rest in Prairie Mound cemetery. Obituary Parker Will Leave Abilene The C. W. Parker amusement and merry-go-round factories ale to leave Abilene.

It is 110 bluff this time, the factories will be moved to Leavenworth at once. This will be a hard blow to Abilene, as Parker employed a hundred men and they will accompany him to Levenworth and move their families to that place. A continuous jangle with the Abilene city council is the reason given by Mr. Parker for making the change. Parker has spent nearly his entire life in Abilene: A few years ago he was the court house janitor there, and finally commenced to make merry-go-rounds and now he has one of the largest amusement factories in the world.
