McElivy, a truck driver. was accidentally shot through the bowels by a 32 caliber revolver the ball perfora ting the intestines in four places. Hereto fore science has looked upon such cases as beyond hu man aid, and has absi ained from applying the knife to that portion of the human body. In this case precedent was openly defied and the attending surgeons with a courage only equaled by their skill and performed tho difficult feat of removing the intestines of the patient sewing up the perforated p'aee, and again putting the intestines into their formei position. The patient has fully recovered from the operation and has been discharg ed from the hospital ai a cured man.

A good deal of comment has been heard upon the action of county Attorney Twee dy in confessing judgment to the amount of $108 against the county costs for which the county was not liable. It is to say the least a very poor recommendation for the ability of an attorney to allow such frauds to be perpetrated upon the peop'e who have placed alfaira of the county in his hanos. Mr. Tweedy has in this his fir-t case of importance fully demonstated that he knows nothing of law and what worse does not posess one grain of stam ina. He certainly has placed idmself in a very unenviable light befnr the people county who do not relish Jthe idea of being taxed to pay for the ignorance of a political shyster who came into their m'dst for the purpose of getting an office and by the aid ot local issues succeeded in palming himself off upon an unsuspecting pulic.

Althongh it may be a very ex pen sive lesson we think that it will in the long run prove a benefit to the people of our county who will the future be particular selecting a man to fill the.most important office in the county and not let prejudice gain the ascendency over their reason and elect instead of a know nothing to that position a man who is at least posessed of some little common sense.
