A CIIALldiNviir Lachosi-'k Kansas Oct, 10th. 1884. To the nominees of the Farmers Party! Gentlemen We the Campaign Committee of the Rush County Party hereby challenge you to meet the Rush County Party in joint discussion during (ho pending campaign; the campaign to oik at the school house in Lacrosse Kits, on Monday evening Oct. 20th. 1SS4.

By Order of Com mi 1 1 e. Wo have just received news of a very sad and distressing accident befalling a 10 year old daughter ofa Mr. Cooper, living in Burton county near the went line. It appears that a man, (whose name we did not learn) stopped with Mr. Cooper leaving in his care a chest of tools.

Mr. Cooper, having occasion to use seme of the tools opened the client failing to close it again. His little boy of 8 years w.im riiinnging in the chest nd found a loaded revolver and thought it would bo fun to scare his sister with it. He went into the room where she was washing dishes and point ing it at her head pulled the trigger toe ball entering he head killing her instantly, The ticket placed in nomination by the Rush County Party is one that needs no introduction to the citrus of our county. They are all men well known to our people and whose and integrity and ability are beyond question.

There is not a single political shyster or "dodger" ou the ticket there is not a sing'e "carpetbagger on the ticket, and the party platform is no quibble, but speaks in clear and comprehensive terms. The candidates of the party are pledged to oppose everything that tends sectionalism and to use every honorable means possible to g've our county a.i equitable and hone administration. The Center House in this place changes hands on Monday next. It will in the future be under the control and management oi Mr. Robt.

Sturgeon who has lately come in our miilst from Indiana, Mr. Sturgeon is a mail of extensive experience in the hotel business and is now engaged in making some heeded improvments which when completed will make the Center House one of the best hotels in tho western part of the state. In conversation with him we learned that he intends to refurnish the lioue in the latest style and would be prepared to accomodate all who may call npou him in a manner calculated to give entire srtisfaction. l'urtiee wishing to stop in our city will study their comfort by calling upon him at the Cefitcr House two doors north of ost offico. On Thursday last the boardeis of the Pa.

House were rejoiced to see "Mammy" Guldin home again from her trip toPenu-syl: ania she has been for some weeks' past on a visit to her children. The 'boys had anxiously awaited Ker return as tliey were very mucn attached toher for the manner in which she always studied their wants and wishes and spared vto effort to mako their life pleasant while under her roof. She tays she likes the old hills of Pa. better than the prairies of Kas. but we hoj, she will nut become so dissatisfied as to again make so long a stay from home as no one can satisfactorily till her place as a llady.

Shei1 a thorough housekeeper and it is.due only to her personal tha' the Pa. House has gained the wide reputation that it has as being one of the best eonduetird hotels in the State. While the "hoys" were glad to see her back again they could not be more so than "Daddy" who had roamed about like'a ship without a rudder during her absence, tion to make linal prtxif in supjioit of Ids ciaim ami mat sain prooi will be made tie-fore T.
