Carrigan Woundedand Under Arrest. On Wednesday morning of this week a fatal shooting affray took place Odessa Pat Car-rigan and B. F. Hall It seetas that the two parties had been having considerable trouble over a contested claim, and that Hall was Hiving upon the contested property. Carrigam came to the place on the moraing above named, when Hall, went out to order him off, as his counsel had advised him to do.

It is said 'that Carrigaa remarked to one of his hired men that if ff all crossed a certain hedge-cow he would shoot him. Hall knew nothing of crossed the dead-lime, was shot -through the heart and died almost instantly. The hot days of summer are upon us, and what with the many acres of corn, in some cases full of weeds, the yeomen of East Buffalo are full of employment, and, in brief, this is no time for "foolin or "fish either, if we would gather a bountiful crop from the acres of soil which have been turned toward the "blue vaults of Wheat, oats, rye, potatoes, in fact everything of the crop kind looks as well here as in other portions of the county. The pastures are 'picking up' since the warm days have come, and cattle are losing theirold coats of hair, and coming out in their fat sleek dress, and show, in their eyes, that their wants are all supplied. Did you ever think of the contentment of "old brindle" as she stands knee- deep in water, ruminating, often be mg out roaming at will, gathering the sweet tufts of grass, picking for variety's sake an occasional weed here and there? Especially after a cold, late spring, in which it often seemed the chances were that the old dam would "shuffle off this mortal coil and be gathered to adorn the valley of dry bones, rather than, to stem the tide 'til the valleys should yield the nutritious grasses so well suited to conduce to the happiness of the bovine family. For a true picture of perfect contentment we would re fer you to a sleek-coated old cow in pasture knee-deep, with her baby calf by her side.
