The weather has changed the balmy breezes of Autumn, for the chilly blasts of winter. Some of the boys from this "neck-o' the woods," attended the "sod laying," at widow Sheets' last Friday. J. A. Mercer, butchered a beef, last Tuesday.

Mr. and Mrs. Roberts, and J. Brown, attended the M. E.

quarterly meeting, at Tyner, last Sunday and Monday. Mrs Johnson died at her home last Sunday, after a long and painful illness The funeral which took place on Mon day, was largely attended. On Dit. Thanksgiving. This is the day set apart for givina thanks, feasting, and doing acts of kindness to needy, those bereft of friends, victims of misfortune or those who are suffering tn beds of sickness.

If the day could be ob served strictly in accordance with the plans laid down by our Chief Lx ecutive, it would prove a blessing to all people, both high and low, rich and poor, in every degree of civiliz ation.
