Harry Templeton's familiar face is seen no more at Ketchum's, he and his family having left for their new home in Montana. A. Smith, north of town, will look over the Arkansas country, thi fall.

Jacob Zipse is seriously ill not expected to recover. What is the matter with the correspondents? Last week there were only two. Hughes and Johnson were called and they decided that his case is doubtful. Philip Spicer and family will start for Missouri, soon. The prospect at present is flatter ing for a good crop of Kaffir corn. Edger Young's horse got loose, one day last week, from where ho is teaching, and went home, leaving Ed. to foot it home that evening.

Mr. Wm. McMilen and children were callers, in these parts, last Sunday evening. L. Trussell and wife, of Randall were callers last Sunday.

The peach crop has nearly disappeared. Ahem, they were good while they lasted. The republicans of this comer of the township were represented by S. Manor, at Mankato, in the republican convention, we'll warrant, they were Wel represented. Calvin and Vicinity.

Comrade Carter is very little if any better. Mr. Nichoklson's daughter, who has been very sick, is said to ba improving, but notable to be up yet. The U. B.

Quarterly meeting at Ionia, September 1st, called out a large' audience. Elder McMillen gave us a good sermon from Ps. 26-8. There were 55 at the Sacramental board. Mrs.

Emma Schoonover, Chas. Otner and Yes George, all formerly of Calvin, but now of Lincoln county, are visiting friends in this neck of tho woods. Mr. George, with whom we have talked, reports good crops and a good country. The young folks had a party at Ed.

Taylor entertained a crowd of young people at their home, west of town, one evening of last week. The crowd was composed of Randallites and Spring Creekers. Baseball games and parties are "all the go." Chicken thieves were in this neighborhood recently. Will Elliott is back from his eastern trip. We expect he, like all the rest that leave Jewell county, is glad to get back.

Miss Ruby is also home again. Mrs. Grace Hall, of Randall, visited out this way, two or three days last week. Roy Peery had some trouble with a certain "gate" in Randall, not long since. Bowman Carroll seems to take a great interest iu one of our neighbors, judging from the frequent visits lie makes there.
