Many local items have went unmention-ed this week on account of not knowing the parties concerned. The Times joins in with the good people of Formoso in welcoming the old soldiers and their friends and families to our city.

Senator John J. iDgalls has assured the con esponding secretary that he wdl be present at the Re-uhiou Thursday. Be sure and hear him. We did not make the first issue of the Times as soon as expected on account of other important business which kept us away from our work. The old soldiers of Formoso and vicinity are making all necessary araange-ments to Make the Re-union a success both in pleasure and comfort.

Burt Purdy who tilled the position as Postmaster, clerk and general manager during Mr. McMurray's eastern visit, left for is home in Scandia Wednesday. An evidence that Formoso is gaining a reputation as the best town in eastern Jewell and western Republic counties in which to buy goods is found in the fact that Saturday several parties from Randall and in the vicinity of Cortland were here and made purchases of goods for themselves and family. This is nothing more than could be expected from the fact that the largest and best selected stocks of goods and the lowest prices are to be found here of any town within twenty miles.

Obituary. Thomas Wells was born in Lamborn, England, March 17, 182G, -and departed this life at his pleasant home near Formo so Kans. September, 27 1889. He came to America in June I8G1. Was married to Mrs.

The foundatiou or a new residence has just been finished in the east part of town. The Formoso schools are uuder fine headway. A large enrollment of pupils is reported. The famous English Noveliest, Wilkle Collins, died September 23rd, at the age of 65 years. A rain is what we need now, as we have heard several complain of their cisterns being empty.

P. Gutelious, Jewell City's professional curve pitcher, was exhibiting' his frame on our streets Saturday. A west bound freight train, on the Rock Island, killed a man and a team of horses Thursday, a week ago, at Lebanon. Call on us and let us get acquainted. William Steinman, residing about six miies from this city, in Jackson township, Jewell county, Kansas, met with an ac cident recently while running a threshing machine, that resulted in hi3 death. In stepping over a tumbling shaft his clothes were caught, hurling him around with fee shaft 6ome thirty times before the machine could be stopped.
