I. of the race. Christ came a light Into tbe world, which dispelled tbe gross darkness that covered the people under the old dispensation; and that light has extended and increased until all over the world there are Christians who shine as the stars in the firmament, and shed their light over the earth. That light will continue till all the world shall be illuminated. The world lias thus far been preserved by the conservative pow strengthen their power they have given the ballot to women who have not been a year from Europe, and who have not been naturalized.

The election this year was carried in Idaho Territory by Mormons, through a command of a leader of the church here. From the people a vast fund is annually raised with which to corrupt congress and obstruct justice. They send to congress a man who has four wives, and defies the United States ami hell to interfere with polygamy. Ten Directory of the Congregational Church of Osborne raator-KEV. B.

"The Mighty God" a little child! He came not in the pomp and splendor of state, nor in the luxury of wealth, though he is King of kings and Lord of lords, and possesses all things, but he bumbled himself and came in K)verty. Though He was rich, yet he became poor, and was born in a stable cradled in a manger and wrapped in very common swaddling jlothes! But He came according to prophecy according to promise. In the fullness of time, before the sceptre departed from Judah, at the time pointed out by Daniel's weeks." He was born at Bethlehem, the city of David, as was foretold, and as the de er ot Christianity. The "suit" or Christianity has prevented the gaugrent of sin from working the destruction of the world by putrefaction.

The leaven of Christianity is at work, and will continue with ever increasing power until the whole is leavened; until the kingdoms of this world become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ. Let me ask: lias the object of Christ, 8 coming been accomplished in scendant of David according to prophecy. Therefore, He came as the Christ the promised Messiah for lie is tWIii'Sat liu T.APilt" Attuatn1 hv fin- your case? Are you saved from your sins? If not, it is your fault; Christ came to save you. He was born unto you a Saviour, and if you are not saved it is years ago their then leader, Brigham Young, declared that he would thrust polygamy down the throats of the American pcoplo by sending a polygamist to congress, and for once he kept his word, and that polygamist has been there ever since. Free thought is killed by the Mormon leaders.

The masses are never permitted to debate a proposition, but merely obey. To disobey a command of the church was formerly punched by death, now it is followed by shameful persecutions. So far as possible, Mormon legislatures have tried to make it impossible for any who do not subscribe to their faith to remain in Utah. The system which the Mormons advocate is being strengthened yearly by importations from Europe of tho uioN0norant -class, and by a multitude of births of children from mot hers degraded by polygamy. The sect has Increased until they have become a menace to free institutions hi the West.

IVrjury is taught as a virtue when necessary to evade the Jaws, and a system as despotic and slavish as ever prevailed in Mohammedan because you will not come to Him for salvation. Let not Christ's coming be Christ's Advent in the World. From a sermon at HarHn. Dec. JG, 1890, by Kev.

J. K. Kckman. For unto you is born this dav in the city of Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. Luke 2:11.

Christmas is the day on which Christians annually celebrate the coming Christ, though it is by no means certain that the 25th day of December is the anniversary of that event. Different persons have contended for different times, and different sects have observed different days. From time to time the day hi been- changed until it gone tli rough nearly or quite every month Li the and at. last by common consent the 23th day of December has been set apart and is generally observed by Christians everywhere as the anniversary of Christ's advent into the world. in vain and fail of its object in yourcase, through your carelessness, negligence, indifference or obstinacy, but avail yourself at once of the means His coming has provided lay hold of the hope set before you and secure Christ for your Saviour by being born unto him this day.

Then you may rejoice with us on this festival occasion with great joy, which is to all people because the Lord is come We will consider the manner and ob-! ject of Christ's coining. ountries is swiftly becoming a tremendous power here. I might go on and increase the indiet-ineiitindclinitely. Enough! Polygamy has einhruted men enough, and broken the hearts of women enough, to justify my means to destroy It. Hence we re joice at the President's words, and shall till.

He was born "a saviour." The Saviour of Ills people the Saviour of all peojde the only Saviour of any people! God sent not His son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world tlrouh him might be saved." "lie came to seek and to sav that which was lost." He came to save sinners to call, not the righteoiu but shiners to repentance. It is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. He is the propitiation for our sins and not for ours only, but for the sins of th whole world. He gue Himself a ransom for all, and became Mediator between God and men, and is the Advocate and Intercessor with power to save to the uttermost all that cf me unto God by Him. As to original transgression the world is saved.

As to a remedy for all sin, it is provided. As to sinners, all are not saved, but the seed has been sown and is growing rapidly. The machinery set up by Christ's coming and put in motion by himself is at work, and glorious result have already followed. Such has been the progress of Christianity, that today it rules the world. Christianity is the controlling power among the nations of the earth.

Christian nations are in the minority, but they are in the ascendancy They rule the world. Flags of Christian nations command respect on sea and land frotn savage us well as civilized people. Christianity leads every movement which has fur 5r nhiecr. tbe nttieliornt ion of the look after congress to see whether here after the corruption fund of the Mormon church can prevail any more or not. He "came down from where ITe was in the bosom of the Father," unto you." Not only unto the shepherds and all Israel, hut unto you and all the world both Jews and Gentiles.

The good news of Christ's coming were glad tidings of great joy, which were to be unto all people! Jle came not as a spirit, nor in the form of an angel, though an angel announced His coming and angels accom panted Uis advent with songs; yet lie took not on Him the nature of angels, but the seed of Abraham. He assumed human'nature, took the form of man and came in the likeness of sinful flesh. He came not in the full development of manhood, as Enoch was translated and as he himself ascended, but He came as I think that I have written enough to let you know, what I think of this pecu liar people, and I shall get away from here as soon as possible where lean send my children to school. They are here as Mormonism. We have permission to print the following letter without the name of the writer.

It was written without thought of publication. We endorse the writer as a true and honest man. He is a friend of eighteen years' standing. He is a poor man and not highly educated; but his testimony is all the more valuable for those circumstances. He speaks as one of the people.

He has eyes, and knows how to tell what he sees: Utah, Dec. 11th, 1880. Fuie.tD Foster: You asked me In a former letter whether I thought this was a good place to raise a family of children. I will answer you by saying that I fully endorse President Hayes' theory in regard to Utah. I will give you some of my reasons for the same.

I charge upon the Mormon leaders these things: They endorse, and as far able, practice, as a feature of their faith, a custom which, under the laws of every state in the Union is treated as a felony. They adhere to a faith which makes the state subservient to a creed. -They are building up a kingdom in the midst of a republic. The highest allegiance of every Mormon is to his church, and the word of the church leaders is the law of the followers, no matter how much they conflict with the laws of the laud. To a people opposed to free schools, and all the schools in this territory that deserve the name are carried on by the Gentile element.
