Kx-traordinary interest in taken in the proceedings, because of the fact that a resolution will be offered in convention endorsing Senator Sherman for the presidential nou 'ination. The convention in reality is lhuM made of national importance, and thi- accounts for the tremendous attendance. There is no doubt that the resolution wili carry in the convention. The two things in doubt are how strongly it will be opposed on the floor of that body, and whether the opposition am muster sntheieiit strength to break the force lje-force the country of the endorsement.

The opponents of the resolution claim they can muster at least one third of the convention, while the supporters of it declare that it. will go through with a whirl, and that the opposition will not. amount to anything but tin exhibition of personal dislike, Mr. Sherman arrived at live o'clock this evening. The evening has Wn spent in efforts nt consolidation, and the senator's friends claim at midnight that there will be no serious opposition the passage of the resolution of endorsement. It seems probable at this writing that the policy of consolidation will win, the argument being that the resolution can have no binding effect on the conventions next year to select delegates to the national convention; that Sherman's long and splendid service entitles him to the resolutions of endorsement, and that Ohio republicans cannot afford to politically slaughter their jrreatest man.
