Our idea of fair play is that all should be given a Chance to clear themselves, but they must not attempt to do so by casting insinuations ut others, us the facts are what wo are after. As to the case of Mr. Handy, in conversation ith us he made no mention of salary nnd we respect and honor him and fully exonerate him from all blame in the matter: but we state facts when we say that Messrs. Fritchey excused himself to some of our of citizens who visited him by saying that other members persuaded him to vote in the way ho did and told him he could returit his salary to the city treasury, and iio consented to vote for it with that understanding.

We honor councilman Handy in his opinion nnd believe with him that he ought to bo paid for bis services, aiid are glad to learn that ho acted honorably and consistently in voting as he did. The point we make is a plain fact and, not an "animadversion" or any other kind of a "version," and it is this: When a man has expressed his disapprobation of a The Truth Teller will give a copy of uopp settlers wuiuc, price 1.00.
