The birthday of Alma and Albert Palmer occured last Friday, and a lot of their young friends gathered there and had a good time. Democratic Central Committee met June 5th. 18U4, and called a Democratic Couuty Convention to be held at the Court llouise ia Concordia, June 26th, at 2 p.

m. for the purpose of e-lecting five delegates and live alternates to the state convention at Tope-ka, July 3rd, 181)1. Also live delegates aud five alternates to the congressional convention to be held iu Concordia, August Mill, 1891. According to basis agreed upon the dffierout townships are entitled to the following representation: Elk 7, North Lawrence 1, South Lawrence 1, East, Sibley 1, West. Sibley 1, Buffalo 1, Graut2, Summit 1, Ariou 1, Lincoln 1, Center 1, Nelson 2, North Shirley 2, South Shirley 2, Colfax 1, Starr 2, Aurora 1, Oakland 1, Lyon 2, Meredith 2, Solomon 3, City of Concordia, ist ward 2, 2nd ward 1, 3rd ward 1.

Wallace Griffin. Auolher old soldier, and many years a sitizeu of this community, Mr. S. W. Matthews, departed this lif'o Monday morning, aud was buried iu tho Glasco cemetery Tuesday afternoon.

The G. A. R. took charge of tho exercises and laid their old comrade to rest, and now there is another little mound that will needs be decorated one year hence. Elder Smith preached the funeral service at the Christian church, where au immense throng of friends, many of whom could not get into the building, gathered to pay the last sad rites.

Tuesday was Odd Fellows' decoration day, and tho members of that order here celebrated. It is an annual day with this secret order, for decorating the graves of departed members. The services occurred after the funeral, and the old soldiers were invited to take part in the exercises, which they did. The D. ofR.

was also out, and assisted. The Glaco Amateurs went to Ash-erville last Saturday, to play ball. The game panned out in their favor with 6core about 9 to 18..
